EXPERIENCE LIVING NEXT TO THE RUE MONTORGUEIL – FOOD LOVER’S PARADISE
Comfortably accommodating two and located just one floor up from street level this studio has been recently renovated. With hardwood floors throughout, the dining space is crowned with a crystal chandelier. The separate kitchen is fully equipped, whether you’re an aspiring chef, or just preparing quick meals on the run. The sofa sleeper quickly converts for a restful night after a busy day of touring. The sleek bathroom features marble tile, glassed-in shower, and is separate from the WC. Two large windows – overlooking the rue Beauregard – are outfitted with the almost obligatory Parisian flowerpots, and allow for plenty of light and fresh air. The small and quiet rue Beauregard is a model for a typical Parisian neighborhood or quartier; in fact, it is completed by the charmingly provincial church of Notre Dame des Bonnes Nouvelles (Our Lady of Good Tidings). The flat offers a truly calming retreat rarely found in this district of the city.
As the city of Paris seeks to make itself more livable and “people friendly,” the rue Montorgueil is among one of Paris’ ever increasing pedestrian-only zones. This area comprises a small section of what was once all the old Paris market “Les Halles” made famous in Emile Zola’s “Le Ventre de Paris.” The old market street has been transformed into one of the most upscale markets around the city. Outside your door you will find many bakeries, pastry makers, wine shops, cheese mongers and fruit stands. The Stohrer Patisserie, one block away, was opened in 1730 by Louis XV’s pastry chef and visited by Queen Elizabeth in 2004. The Passage de Grand Cerf (a stone's throw away) and the Galerie Vivienne are restored, quiet passages with glass ceilings, mosaic floors and an array of smaller boutiques. The second arrondissement town hall is where Napoleon and Josephine were married. It was also the home of many historical figures: Goya, Stendhal, Alexandre Dumas, Simon Bolivar and Liszt. Since you will be right in the heart of Paris, it's an easy walk to the Marais, the Louvre Museum, the church of St Eustache, the Palais Royal and Notre-Dame, and a bit farther on, St. Germain and the Bastille. The apartment is also 5 minutes' walk to 4 metro stations (connecting you to half of the metro lines serving Paris) as well as the RER train (including the RER B which can take you to Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport in 35 minutes).
