The famous Boulevard Saint-Michel forms the central axis of the Latin Quarter and traverses both the 5th and 6th arrondissements. Needless to say, an active student culture and a vibrant nightlife are to be found in this area. Further features of the district include its proximity to the open-air markets of the Boulevard Raspail and the Boulevard Saint Germain and the quarters of Saint-Sulpice, Saint-Germain-des-Pres and L'Odeon.
